Sri Lankans Will Never Forget This

September 16, 2008, A passenger bus was devastated in a bomb explosion inside it at Horton roundabout in Colombo 07 around 1.45 (16). The bus belonged to Mattakkuliya depot was plying on number 155 Moratuwa - Mattakkuliya route.
However, the number of injured passengers was as low as four since they were evacuated in advance to the explosion. Three of the injured were suffering from shock whilst only one person sustained minor injuries, said the Director of National hospital Hector Weerasinghe.

Mount Lavinia: Police and Security Forces launched a massive search operation after a bomb explosion on the coastal rail track near De Saram Road, Mount Lavinia yesterday evening. No injuries or damage to property was reported. The police began to question those who were in the vicinity soon after the explosion, According to Mount Lavinia SSP Hemantha Adhikari, over 200 g of C4 explosives have been used for the bomb. One track was slightly damaged. The train service was stopped from Dehiwala Railway Station temporarily last night.

A minor explosion in Colombo injured nine people this evening (Sept. 08th), police and hospital sources said. The victims, all men and two in critical condition, are receiving treatment at Colombo National Hospital, said its director Dr. Hector Weerasinghe.
SSP of the area Premalal Ranagala said the blast at Gas Works Street, Pettah around 9.30 pm appeared to have been caused by a hand grenade.
Three vehicles have been damaged and windows shattered in nearby shops following the explosion.
The area has been cordoned off and a search is presently underway.

22.08.2008.DNA tests will be needed to identify many of the 153 people killed in Wednesday's plane disaster at Madrid airport, the Spanish government says.
Two babies and 20 children were on board the flight, which was heading from Madrid to Las Palmas in the Canary Islands, according to Spanair, which released the official passenger manifest. Three children survived the crash. Nineteen foreigners from at least 11 countries were on the plane, the Spanish government said. The countries include Germany, France, Sweden, Mauritania, Turkey, Brazil, Indonesia, Bulgaria, Italy, Colombia and Gambia.

12 police personnel including 3 WPCs (Woman Police Constable) were killed and over 20 others have suffered injuries when a mortar bike ridding LTTE suicide cadre blew himself in front of the SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) office complex in Vavuniya this morning, June 16. According to the initial reports received from Vavuniya, the explosion has occurred around 7.10 a.m., targeting the Police personnel leaving the SSP office for their duties. A total of 23 people were admitted to the general hospital at Vavuniya, including 19 Police personnel and 4 civilians, the Vavuniya hospital sources said speaking to our defence correspondent. A school girl is also among the victims who suffered injuries, hospital sources further said
